'Law & Order' makes it the longest-running live-action series in US television history as NBC renewed for Season 21.
Co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks said in a Friday statement, "This incredible run is an example of what happens when producers, writers and actors all come together and create a show that, year after year, speaks to its audience in a powerful way."
After groundbreaking seasons of high-stake emotions, the longest-running hit series 'Law & Order: SVU' which is Dick Wolf's crime procedural broke the records of 'Gunsmoke' and its predecessor ‘Law & Order’.
Wolf also reacted positively to the renewal in the statement, noting the series lead actress, Mariska Hargitay, is an “iconic figure as a star, advocate and crusader for women.”
“She is an enduring champion of the movement to end sexual violence,” he described the actress who has been with the series since its inception.
The series investigates crimes of sexual assault, child abuse and domestic violence in the US.
